after the School Fund was set up, has shocked us all. But his dream will live

Babu Chiri Sherpa is from Nepal, and he is internationally famous for his world record achievements on Mt. Everest. He now wishes to conquer the poverty and lack of education in the remote village areas where he was born, and he has asked SHIVA charity to help. Babu was born in Takshindu, a village in the Solu Khumbu, or Everest region of Nepal. Takshindu, at an altitude of 2850 meters, is a very remote village in a non-tourist area, where the government and development organisations have not been able to give any assistance. So the area has always remained backward and remote. Here Babu has started his first school project. |

A school building has been constructed with the help of funding from his Everest expeditions. However, as yet there is no money to run it. Teachers need to be paid for, and equipment needs to be bought on a monthly basis. Babu desperately needs ongoing funding in the form of monthly sponsorship, as well as one off donations for the school. |

Education in the poorer areas of Nepal is very primitive. In the neighbouring village of Kanku Babu also hopes to build another school soon, so as to give the children there a chance in life and a future. In Nepal only 13% of boys and 3% of girls complete a full time education, so there is a lot to do. SHIVA charity is proud to support Babu projects, and has set up a fund to help him achieve his aims.
